CALL HER BLESSED

Her children arise and call her blessed.
Proverbs 31:28

We are big fans of our mamas around here and we wanted to take a moment on this special day to celebrate our wonderful Moms. We each sat down to answer a few questions about one of the most important people in our lives! We would love to know what YOU would say about the special woman in your life you call Mom!

1. What is one word you would use to describe your Mom?

Faithful

My mom, Susie Jordan, is the epitome of the word to me. She has faithfully served Jesus and our family for decades with selfless devotion. She is faithful to teach her small Sunday school class of women week in and week out the Word of God.  In a culture that mocks such women, she is faithful to God’s commands and she is faithful to her wedding vows. The word “faithful” embodies belief coupled with action– that is Susie Jordan.

2. What is something your Mom has taught you that you are grateful for?

My mom, more than any other human being, has taught me the power of prayer. My earliest memories include my mom with her Bible and prayer journal. Her beautiful handwriting listing names of people that she would lift up to the Heavenly Father. I’ve witnessed first-hand my mother’s prayers bringing forth miracles.

She taught me to walk by faith and not by sight.

She taught me to believe that my prayers were answered as soon as I asked …because that is what God’s word promises to us.

She taught me to pray believing that God is able and that God is all-powerful.

3. What is one of your favorite memories with your Mom?

This spring, RGM traveled to Israel for a tour of the Holy Land. I was blessed to have my family travel there with us. My favorite memory of the trip and my all-time favorite memory of my mother happened when our tour bus entered Jerusalem. As the bus climbed up the top of Mt. Moriah and turned the corner to view the breathtaking City of Zion, my mother began to weep …beautiful tears that only a woman who has loved Jesus with all of her heart could weep.  Watching her lift her hands in praise to the King of Kings stirred in me a desire to love Jesus more and so thankful for a mother that loves Him with her whole heart.. This is the legacy my mom has handed down to her children—a love for Jesus that oozes out of every pour of her body. As she wept over the city where Jesus laid down His life for her own, I found myself so thankful to call her my mother.

1. What is one word you would use to describe your Mom?

ENCOURAGER

2. What is something your Mom has taught you that you are grateful for?

Mom has always taught us the truths of Romans 8:28 and I Thessalonians 5:18: that God works all things together for our good and to give thanks in all things! This has shaped my life since I was a child – not that I succeed all of the time – but it’s ingrained in my mind!

3. What is one of your favorite memories with your Mom?

Coming from a big family of 7, it’s not like there was a lot of one-on-one time, but I have hilarious memories of me learning to drive a stick shift car with my mom and shopping trips with her when things fit so terribly that we’d laugh our heads off! Mom’s always been one to come alongside and empathize with me and then point me to the Lord. We have laughed a lot over the years and cried, too…she’ll always have the “mom affect” on me if I’m upset and hear her voice…instant tears!

My mom’s first Mother’s Day with me in 1988! (Even after 26 years, my dad’s photography skills still haven’t improved.)

1. What is one word you would use to describe your Mom?

Sacrificial-Giver.

My mom is a giver of her time, her talents, and love of Jesus. As a stay-at-home mom, my mama made thousands of PB&J sandwiches, made countless carpool runs, and poured her love for Jesus and God’s word into her two daughters. She gives from the overflow of a forgiven soul and ministers the love of Jesus to her family and friends!

2. What is something your Mom has taught you that you are grateful for?

I call these mom’isms

“Always remember that your God is bigger than your circumstances.”

“Remember who you are and whose you are.”

And just to keep me humble…

“You’d loose your butt if it weren’t attached.”

3. What is one of your favorite memories with your Mom?

My mom is quite the prayer warrior.

Before I came on staff with RGM, I planned our evangelistic event (Girls’ Night Out) as a college student in South Carolina. Even before I started planning Girls’ Night Out at Winthrop University, I immediately called my mom and asked her to pray. As a girl who never planned a birthday party, I felt very unequipped to plan an event that I knew would potentially bring hundreds of girls in to hear the Gospel.

My favorite memory from that first Girls’ Night Out was having my mom in the front row. She not only got to see our prayers come to life, but she got to listen to me share my testimony infront of my sorority sisters and the rest of the women on my college campus.

It’s a great memory to look back on and see how my mom has been there from the very beginning of my minstry with RGM.

This redeemed girl has come full circle now that I travel the country to take Girl’s Night Out events and book clubs to college girls who need to hear about their Redeemer!

Thank you mom for faithfully praying and reminding me that bold prayers honor God!

1. What is one word you would use to describe your Mom?

One-of-a-kind. (The dashes make it one word!)

2. What is something your Mom has taught you that you are grateful for?

My Mom has always surrounded herself with really incredible women because she highly values female friendships. She taught me how important it is to have great friends and also what it looks like to be a good friend. She is constantly going above and beyond to love others and serve them! Mom has also bestowed her gift of shopping onto me. It can be both a blessing and a curse 😉

3. What is one of your favorite memories with your Mom?

My Mom is quite the dress-maker. I’m talking intricate pleats, lace, bows, smocking, the whole gamut! Growing up she would make these fantastic dresses and naturally I named them all.  I had my duck dress, my doll dress, my leaf dress, my yellow dress…the list goes on and on.  She made sure I was never without a bow the size of Texas on my head either! I would love sitting in her sewing room and seeing everything that she did to make a dress come to life. I definitely think my creative side comes from her!
