I had been visiting to Second Baptist Church only a month prior to attending the Sex & the City, Uncovered event. I knew only a few acquaintances and was quite nervous to even walk in the door. I’m a shy individual to begin with, but I was bound and determined to meet people and make friends, so I reasoned this was a perfect way to do it. As I parked my car and walked through the door, I remember thinking to myself, What am I doing here, and will I really fit
in with these girls? As the lights lowered to signal the beginning of the show, I sat back and again wondered why I was here. Marian Jordan came on the stage, and I sat there and listened
while what she was saying tugged at my heart. Her message was loud and clear to me: there is more to this life. More than boys, fashionable clothes, fancy cars, and good friends.

I sat there soaking in all that was said and knew I’d been missing “it” all my life. The “it” was Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer. I had been missing Him for twenty-five years and absolutely refused to live anymore without Him. As Marian wrapped up, I felt at peace in knowing that I was meant to be in that very seat surrounded by hundreds of women, many of whom may have come to the very realization that all we need in this life is Jesus Christ. I felt the very presence of God in that room that night, and it was overwhelming. It’s been almost two years since I stepped outside that theater, and my life has taken a totally different avenue. Being a follower of Jesus Christ has been amazing. It’s not always easy, but the joy in my heart is overflowing. I know for a fact that many women’s lives were affected that night by Marian’s message. Some of those women have become my best friends, and it’s amazing to see their walk with the Lord grow every day . . . as does mine.
