Ministry Vision
I absolutely love the word redeemed! It conjures up so many images in my mind. For starters, the word “redeem” means to release at the receipt of payment—to set free. As one who was captive to the emptiness of “looking for love in all the wrong places”, the emotional wounds from my past, and the consequences of my own sin—I know first hand the freedom that comes from redemption. Remember that feeling of sheer joy on the last day of school when you finish the big exam? Or the feeling that you have when you dance in your bathroom, preen unashamedly in the mirror with your hairbrush microphone? Redemption is being free to twirl, free to breathe, free to hope … about KNOWING that you are FREE!
What is redemption?
Redemption is what Jesus Christ bought for you and me when He paid the price for our sins with His death on the cross. He purchased our lives with His own. In turn He set us free from our captivity to sin and to a life of emptiness. This freedom brings us real life—the life that we all long for. Not only that, but ultimately, it is this redemption that tells us who we are and what we are worth.
God’s word says:
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.
1 Peter 1:18-21
Grasping the weight of redemption will flat-out transform a girl from the inside out—I know, because I am a redeemed girl! Before I came into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ my life was as this scripture describes “empty.” I was constantly searching, striving, performing, and conforming to find love and security. Yet, both eluded me for they would never be found in any of the places I searched.
Like Bono said, “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.”
Only one Person would meet the need in my soul for love and security and that Person is Jesus Christ—my Redeemer. The reason? Blaise Pascall explained why I could never find true satisfaction perfectly when he said, “Man was created with a god shaped whole in his soul that can only be filled by God Himself.” Think about that for a moment—a god shaped whole. The reality is this; we are created by God and for Him and apart from Him we are left searching and empty. When Christ redeemed my life His love filled the emptiness in my heart and now the greatest longing of my soul—the desire for a relationship with God—was satisfied.
Today, I live to tell other women about the life-changing, soul-filling, freedom-giving love of Jesus Christ. I founded Redeemed Girl Ministries because I long to see a generation of women united under the unifying bond of their freedom in Christ.
